- Prepare the employee
- Assemble the data
- Manager explain thoroughly to the employee how the actual exercise will be conducted
- Set the tone at the start of the interview
- Ask the employee to evaluate themselves
- Give your assessment of the employee’s strong and points and address areas of concern and development
- Summarize your own view and employee’s views
- Take notes conscientiously and listen with attentiveness
- Action plan
- Manager develop action plan in co-operation with the employee
- The employee review the written appraisal
- Manager concludes the appraisal
