Section 2: Managing poor performance and incapacity
- Does the employee have adequate tools, equipment and support?
- Has his performance been objectively assessed?
- Have his shortcomings been pointed out to him/her (when and how many times?)
- Is there a domestic situation that may be affecting his work (substance abuse or family problems?)
- Has he/she been made aware of consequences of failing to achieve the required work standard?
- Has he/she had enough time to improve/achieve the work standard?
- Are there extenuating, mitigating or aggravating factors?
- Has counselling been recorded?
- Is there an alternative to dismissal?
